Welcome to the fourth edition of The Pulse -- The State of the Art -- a survey in words and pictures of the online artist community. My current obsession is my collection of personal journal/sketchbooks which I always alter...along with visual art, I love the written word - the books are 5"x8" so they travel with me whenever I go, I even broke down and purchased a purse which will accommodate the size in order to carry one with me at all times to pass the time waiting anywhere so that waiting is no longer a chore but rather a pleasure.

Type trays. I did my first one in a workshop with Lynne Perrella, gesso-ing, texturing, painting and then filling the openings in the tray with a variety of found objects and ephemera. I did several for an Open Studio Tour and they were quite popular. Going through my stash to find the things to use us more than half the fun of doing them!

I love to collect old tins, textured pieces of this or that...old jewelry and trays...then I like to put them together into temporary assemblages...

I am very much into working with encaustic, so I am collecting different "ingredients" to make my own colors of wax. Also all the other tools and paraphernalia that goes along with it: boards, irons, hot wire brushes, nibs, and anything to make texture!
